Time frame of Joel?
5th century BC (after Babylonian exile, prophesied after Amos, Isaiah, etc.)
*Explains the aftermath of Yah’s army- coming judgement.
*A call to fast, weep, and turn back to YHWH for He is compassionate and will relent.
*There will be an escape for those who call on His Name.
He will be their refuge and stronghold!
Valley of Yehosophat = valley of judgement/decision
The locusts = Yah’s army (see 2:25)
Is Yah connecting an actual natural disaster (locust plague Google says) to His future army?
No (in my opinion), Joel 1 starts out by explaining the aftermath of Yah’s army! Maybe a literal locust plague did occur, but only using it as a means of relation to such destruction.
