SCRIPTURE

I also gave them My Sabbaths as a sign between us, so that they would know that I am the LORD who sanctifies them. -Ezekiel 20:12

¹³ “Speak also to the children of Israel, saying, ‘Most certainly you shall keep my Sabbaths; for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I am Yahweh who sanctifies you. -Exodus 31:13

The heavens, the earth, and all their vast array were finished. ² On the seventh day God finished his work which he had done; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had done. ³ God blessed the seventh day, and made it holy, because he rested in it from all his work of creation which he had done. -Genesis 2:1-3

²⁷ Then He told them, “The Sabbath was made for^[a] man and not man for^[b] the Sabbath. -Mark 2:27

A psalm. A song for the Sabbath day.

¹ It is good to praise Yahweh,
to sing praise to Your name, Most High,
² to declare Your faithful love in the morning
and Your faithfulness at night,
³ with a ten-stringed harp
and the music of a lyre. -Psalm 92

4 Therefore, while the promise to enter His rest remains, let us fear that none of you should miss it.^[a] 2 For we also have received the good news just as they did; but the message they heard did not benefit them, since they were not united with those who heard it in faith^[b] 3 (for we who have believed enter the rest), in keeping with what^[c] He has said:

So I swore in My anger,
they will not enter My rest.^[d]

And yet His works have been finished since the foundation of the world, ⁴ for somewhere He has spoken about the seventh day in this way:

And on the seventh day
God rested from all His works.^[e]

⁵ Again, in that passage He says, They will never enter My rest.^[f] 6 Since it remains for some to enter it, and those who formerly received the good news did not enter because of disobedience, ⁷ again, He specifies a certain day—today—speaking through David after such a long time, as previously stated:

Today, if you hear His voice,
do not harden your hearts.^[g]

⁸ For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken later about another day. ⁹ Therefore, a Sabbath rest remains for God’s people. ¹⁰ For the person who has entered His rest has rested from his own works, just as God did from His. ¹¹ Let us then make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall into the same pattern of disobedience. -Hebrews 4
