Today began with worry and fear. It wasn’t until the act of prayer that irrational thoughts were brought to the light and heaviness was lifted; clarity and peace from Yah always comes at a surprise and I’m left in awe each time.
I’m not very disciplined towards giving my thoughts any thought or casting cares to Him, our burden bearer; but on the rare occasion it does happen, I’m so blessed and find it hard to fathom Yah was listening, caring, and wanting to bring me relief. He really is a Father.
He brought relief through His Word, and it wasn’t until I had “verses I’ve enjoyed recently” written down that I noticed a clear message; each verse (read below) spoke about quiet confidence and strength, which is what I previously asked for clarity on (see the blog post).
…”You will be delivered by returning and resting; your strength will lie in quiet confidence”. -Isaiah 30:15
The result of righteousness will be peace; the effect of righteousness will be quiet confidence forever. -Isaiah 32:17
So, in the middle of the rut, I tried my best to practice this “quiet confidence” in Him and build it by thinking thoughts about His goodness and His mighty hand. My favorite stories are when YHWH shows Himself in battle, and how it doesn’t matter how many men there are, what weapons (if any) are being used, or how giant or numerous the enemy is. Below are some examples!
…”You who are far off, hear what I have done; you who are near, know My strength”. -Isaiah 33:13
2 Chronicles 20
Judges 6-8
Exodus 14
1 Samuel 17
Joshua 5-6
King Jehoshaphat in battle against the Ammonites and Moabites
Gideon and the Midianites
Israelites crossing the Red Sea (sea of reeds)
David and Goliath
Joshua and the battle of Jericho
I’ve come to the conclusion: “Why would I think twice?”
When it comes to relying on anything or anyone- why would I think twice? Why would I think twice about His abilities, plans, will, or power in this life?
It helps when our mind is at ease to really think and act rationally, in the midst of something stressful or worrisome.
YHWH did that for me and His commands (for example, to cast our cares on Him and to not be anxious, but pray) are truly awesome.
Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses every thought, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. -Philippians 4:6-7
Let there be confident trust in Him always and in every situation we face, because if we don’t stand firm in our faith, we will not stand at all {Isaiah 7:9}.
