1 Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, 2 but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. 3 That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither— whatever they do prospers.

PSALM 119
The Ten Words
EXODUS 20
Then God spoke all these words saying, 2 “I am YHWH your Elohim, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. 3 “You shall have no other gods before Me. 4 Do not make for yourself a graven image[a], or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above or on the earth below or in the water under the earth. 5 Do not bow down to them, do not let anyone make you serve them. For I, Adonai your God, am a jealous God, bringing the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, 6 but showing lovingkindness to the thousands of generations of those who love Me and keep My mitzvot. 7 “You must not take the Name of Adonai your God in vain, for Adonai will not hold him guiltless that takes His Name in vain. 8 “Remember Yom Shabbat, to keep it holy. 9 You are to work six days, and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a Shabbat to Adonai your God. In it you shall not do any work—not you, nor your son, your daughter, your male servant, your female servant, your cattle, nor the outsider that is within your gates. 11 For in six days Adonai made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day. Thus Adonai blessed Yom Shabbat, and made it holy. 12 “Honor your father and your mother, so that your days may be long upon the land which Adonai your God is giving you. 13 “Do not murder. 14 “Do not commit adultery. 15 “Do not steal. 16 “Do not bear false witness against your neighbor. 17 “Do not covet your neighbor’s house, your neighbor’s wife, his manservant, his maidservant, his ox, his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor’s.”
LUKE 10:25-28
25 Just then an expert in the law stood up to test Him, saying, “Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” 26 “What is written in the law?” He asked him. “How do you read it?” 27 He answered: Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.[k]28 “You’ve answered correctly,” He told him. “Do this and you will live.”
DEUTERONOMY 6:25
25 Then it will be righteousness for us, if we are careful to observe all these commandments before the Lord our God, as He has commanded us.’
1 JOHN 3:7
7 Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous.
1 JOHN 2:3-6
3 Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. 4 He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God [a]is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. 6 He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.
1 JOHN 5:3
3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome.
2 JOHN v6
6 And this is love, that we walk according to His commandments. This is the commandment, just as you have heard from the beginning, that you should walk in it.
JOHN 14:15
15 “If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.
JOHN 15:14
14 You are My friends if you do what I command you.
REVELATION 22:14
14Blessed are those who [g]do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city.
PROVERBS 13:13
The one who has contempt for instruction will pay the penalty, but the one who respects a command will be rewarded.
describes the outcome of one who despises instruction vs. one who respects instruction
Will pay for itWill be rewarded
DEUTERONOMY 6:4-9
4 “Hear, O Israel! The Lord [Yah] is our God [Elohim], the Lord [Yah] is one! 5 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. 6 These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart. 7 You shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up. 8 You shall bind them as a sign on your hand and they shall be as [b]frontals [c]on your forehead. 9 You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
MARK 12:29-31
29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: 30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. 31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these
Terms DEFINED by The Word
PSALM 119:142
Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and thy law is the truth.
His Law = The Truth/His loving Instructions/Torah (Hebrew for law)
PROVERBS 6:23
23 For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life
His Law = the light, way (of life)
JOHN 14:6
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
Messiah Yahusha = the way, truth, life = light (see Proverbs 6:23 above or John 8 below)
JOHN 8:12
12 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”
Messiah Yahusha = the light (of the world, of life)
DEUTERONOMY 32:46-47
After Moses finished reciting all these words to all Israel, 46 he said to them, “Take to heart all these words I am giving as a warning to you today, so that you may command your children to carefully follow all the words of this law. 47 For they are not meaningless words to you but they are your life, and by them you will live long in the land you are crossing the Jordan to possess.”
Words of the law = our life (which also can mean that Messiah Yahusha is our life too, since He himself is also defined as the truth, the life, & the light)
PSALM 119:1
א Alef 1 How[a] happy are those whose way is blameless, who live according to the Lord’s instruction!
(Blameless) way = living according to YHWH’s instruction
DEUTERONOMY 6:25
24 And the Lord commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the Lord our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as it is at this day. 25 And it shall be our righteousness, if we observe to do all these commandments before the Lord our God, as he hath commanded us.
Righteousness– one who observes to do all the commandments that He has commanded
ROMANS 3; 2 CORINTHIANS 5:21
21 But now apart [k]from the Law the righteousness of God has been manifested, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, 22 even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all those [l]who believe; for there is no distinction; 23 for all [m]have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus; 25 whom God displayed publicly as a [n]propitiation [o]in His blood through faith. This was to demonstrate His righteousness, [p]because in the forbearance of God He passed over the sins previously committed; 26 for the demonstration, I say, of His righteousness at the present time, so that He would be just and the justifier of the one who [q]has faith in Jesus.
21 He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
Messiah = our righteousness and why we are and can be righteous
ISAIAH 26:2
Open the gates, That the righteous nation which [a]keeps the truth may enter in.
Righteous nation– one that remains faithful; keeps the truth
Then it is our responsibility to keep faith until the end. Follow His ways with Messiah asthe source of why we obey.
1 JOHN 3:4
4 [a]Whosoever [b]commiteth sin, transgresseth also the Law: for [c]sin is the transgression of the Law.
Sin- transgression of His Law; lawlessness; living by no law
Salvation, Justification, Coming to the Truth
Salvation– the preservation or deliverance from harm, ruin, or loss; deliverance from sin and its consequences (death)
EPHESIANS 2:8-9
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and [h]that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; 9 not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.
Knowing that salvation is a gift rather than earned, praise can only be due to YHWH and not us. Any boasting is towards Him and His amazing grace.
HEBREWS 5:9
9 After He was perfected, He became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey Him,
The SOURCE of our salvation = Yahusha our Messiah
His name says He himself is salvation- see Strong’s # H3091 or here for more details regarding His name.
Justification– forgiveness; made right in the sight of Elohim; clearing of all guilt
ROMANS 2:13-14 Doers of His Ways/Word, and not hearers only, are Justified
13 [l](For the hearers of the Law are not righteous before God: but the doers of the Law shall be [m]justified.
All will be judged; we all need Messiah and His example of living, to be our standards of living, and to be forgiven of our inevitable shortcomings.
ROMANS 3:20-31 Justification by Faith
20 …because by the works [i]of the Law no flesh will be justified in His sight; for [j]through the Law comes the knowledge of sin.21 But now apart [k]from the Law the righteousness of God has been manifested, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, 22 even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all those [l]who believe; for there is no distinction; 23 for all [m]have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus; 25 whom God displayed publicly as a [n]propitiation [o]in His blood through faith. This was to demonstrate His righteousness, [p]because in the forbearance of God He passed over the sins previously committed; 26 for the demonstration, I say, of His righteousness at the present time, so that He would be just and the justifier of the one who [q]has faith in Jesus. 27 Where then is boasting? It is excluded. By what kind of law? Of works? No, but by a law of faith. 28 [r]For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works [s]of the Law. 29 Or is God the God of Jews only? Is He not the God of Gentiles also? Yes, of Gentiles also, 30 since indeed God who will justify the [t]circumcised [u]by faith and the [v]uncircumcised through faith is one. 31Do we then nullify [w]the Law through faith? May it never be! On the contrary, we establish the Law.
JAMES 2:14-26 Faith and Works (work together; works perfect faith)
14 What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can his faith[d] save him?15 If a brother or sister is without clothes and lacks daily food 16 and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, keep warm, and eat well,” but you don’t give them what the body needs, what good is it? 17 In the same way faith, if it doesn’t have works, is dead by itself.18 But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.”[e] Show me your faith without works, and I will show you faith from my works.[f]19 You believe that God is one; you do well. The demons also believe—and they shudder.20 Foolish man! Are you willing to learn that faith without works is useless? 21 Wasn’t Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? 22 You see that faith was active together with his works, and by works, faith was perfected. 23 So the Scripture was fulfilled that says, Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him for righteousness,[g] and he was called God’s friend. 24 You see that a man is justified by works and not by faith alone. 25 And in the same way, wasn’t Rahab the prostitute also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out by a different route? 26 For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead.
Faith- active/alive with works; no works = useless faith
